About the conference

EAGx is the locally-organized international conference series of the effective altruism community. EAGxBoston 2019 is open to everyone and will be two days in length. Content is primarily aimed at people who are familiar with the core ideas of effective altruism, but who want to engage more deeply with the concepts and get more involved with the community.

Conference schedule

Please click the above hyperlink for the full schedule. The conference will run from 9am-6pm on Saturday, April 27; and from 9am-3pm on Sunday, April 28.

Intended audience

EAGx conferences are open to people of all levels of engagement with effective altruism. We think the following kinds of attendees are particularly likely to find the conference valuable:

  • People already at least somewhat familiar with the key ideas of effective altruism.
  • People seeking the opportunity to learn more about effective altruism, get help on individual plans, or meet more people in the community.
  • People interested in or actively seeking work focused on high-priority global issues.

Ticketing details

Tickets will switch from early bird to regular pricing on March 29th.

Discounts will be available for both the early bird and the regular ticket and can be selected at the discretion of the purchaser. Please choose a discounted ticket if, and only if, you would not be able to attend the conference at full price. We do need to cover our costs, but would rather have attendees take discounts than miss the event for financial reasons. Please note that only 200 tickets are available for this event.

Food details

Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided both Saturday and Sunday. Meal costs are included in the ticket price. All food served will be vegan, with gluten-free options available.

Transportation and parking

The best way to get to the conference venue is via the T (Boston’s subway system). The venue is a 10-minute walk from the Harvard Square station on the Red Line. Parking is available in the 52 Oxford St parking garage, but day permits must be purchased online and printed out in advance. See here for more details.

Accessibility

The conference venue is ADA-compliant. Please contact us if you may require mobility assistance or other accessibility support.
