Helen Toner is a Senior Research Analyst at the Open Philanthropy Project. Her work focuses on policy, governance, and strategy issues related to progress in artificial intelligence, across domains including geopolitics, national security, public policy, and AI safety.
Before joining Open Philanthropy, Helen studied chemical engineering and Arabic at the University of Melbourne. While studying, she led EA Melbourne, worked at finance startup Vesparum Capital, and interned with the Boston Consulting Group. In her free time, she enjoys Renaissance polyphony and learning how to dance.
