Nick is Founder and Managing Director of Woven Network CIC (UK's network focused on supporting entrepreneurs and researchers working on the opportunities around insects for food and feed). Woven was launched in 2016. Woven has a growing membership both in the UK and overseas and is proving a significant focus of interest in this area with plans for a Woven stand at the Excel Food Matters Live 2016 exhibition in addition to 9 food companies promoting their insect-based ingredients.
Nick has a long-standing interest in different aspects of food having also founded a local food growing cooperative and being an active member of Sheffield’s Real Junk Food project, focused on reducing food waste by providing pay as you feel meals in a café and at events. For the last five years, Nick was Head of International Innovation Strategy at the UK Government Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
He has left that now to set up his own international collaboration consultancy Unconventional Connections. Nick holds BA, MSc and PhD degrees in psychology from the universities of Cambridge, Loughborough and Sheffield with a focus on psychology and user-centred system development.
